Aini Alastalos skulpturserie<\/h3>\n

Vad \u00e4r v\u00e4sentligt? Vad l\u00e4ngtar vi efter och vad beh\u00f6ver vi denna jul \u2013 vad g\u00f6r vardagen sk\u00f6n och h\u00f6gtiden gl\u00e4djefylld? Och vad vill vi ge i g\u00e5va till v\u00e5ra v\u00e4nner? V\u00e5ra val p\u00e5verkar inte bara v\u00e5rt eget och v\u00e5ra n\u00e4rst\u00e5endes v\u00e4lbefinnande, utan ocks\u00e5 planetens tillst\u00e5nd. Designern Aini Alastalo har ocks\u00e5 utforskat temat meningsfullhet och v\u00e4sentlighet i sin skulpturserie Oleellisille<\/em> (F\u00f6r det v\u00e4sentliga), som visas i skyltf\u00f6nstren i v\u00e5r butik p\u00e5 Skillnadsgatan fram till \u00e5rets slut.<\/p>\n

\u201cOleellisille \u00e4r en skalbar serie verk byggda kring kraftiga aspstammar, p\u00e5 vilka hyllplan i olika storlekar placeras. Valet av asp som material grundar sig i traditionellt finskt tr\u00e4arbete fr\u00e5n en tid d\u00e5 f\u00f6rem\u00e5l tillverkades av n\u00f6dv\u00e4ndighet \u2013 f\u00f6r att fylla luckor i vardagen med det som var v\u00e4sentligt. Skulpturerna \u00e4r, i enlighet med sitt namn, platser just f\u00f6r dessa f\u00f6rem\u00e5l. De uppmanar betraktaren att unders\u00f6ka b\u00e5de v\u00e5r omgivning och de saker vi \u00e4ger. Framf\u00f6r verken kan man stanna upp f\u00f6r att reflektera \u00f6ver betydelsen av viktiga f\u00f6rem\u00e5l \u2013 eller l\u00e4mna utrymme f\u00f6r tomhet. Den massiva strukturen i kombination med det begr\u00e4nsade f\u00f6rvaringsutrymmet understryker skulpturernas avsedda syfte.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hantverkets och den l\u00e5ngsamma processens betydelse<\/h3>\n

Aini har sj\u00e4lv t\u00e4ljt verken ur massiv asp. Under de senaste \u00e5ren har hon s\u00e4rskilt fokuserat p\u00e5 hantverksbaserat arbete och materialforskning. Hon intresserar sig f\u00f6r hur material b\u00e4r p\u00e5 minnen och hur handens arbete kan frambringa tankar som annars inte skulle ta form i ord. \u201dT\u00e4ljandet var f\u00f6r mig en mycket kroppslig och samtidigt f\u00f6rv\u00e5nansv\u00e4rt minnesfylld process. Jag arbetade medvetet med primitiva handverktyg s\u00e5 att materialets egen rytm och motst\u00e5nd skulle f\u00e5 styra arbetet. L\u00e5ngsamheten och upprepningen hj\u00e4lpte mig att f\u00f6rdjupa mig b\u00e5de i aspens egenskaper och i mina egna materialminnen, och processen k\u00e4ndes stundvis n\u00e4stan meditativ. Tr\u00e4et v\u00e4ckte barndomsupplevelser till liv och gjorde arbetet mycket personligt.\u201d<\/p>\n
